Fall 1999

I remember drawing this one during Animal Nutrition on a boring day. I don't know if I was paying attention at all or not. Probably not, though I should have been. Oh well, I did fine in the class, but hind-sight is 20/20. Anway, I was bored and was thinking how a pony would look bored in class and decided to do her the same way I was sitting. I was amused by the end result and decided to color it and put it up on the front page of my webpage. I had never done shading effects to create depth with a computer program before so this was my first hack at it. The coloring went the best of the whole picture, which I think is why I like it so much. It has formal issues, the pony has a long and round snoot, googly eyes and the chair has bad perspective problems, and the coloring on the hair is so-so, but it was definitely my best attempt up to that date. Also, most of my successes in pony drawing had been based off of still life modeling by the ponies. This was a success in general pony proportion without the help of a model and in a position I had never seen a pony before (and I don't expect I ever will).
