Meet your webmistress. While the rest of this webpage is intensely pony related, this is the section about me, and while I may like ponies, I have to say that my life is not very intensely pony. I have many hobbies, many loves and many obsessions and ponies are just one of them.
I meet and greet the pony world with the online handle of Mare Ann but my real name is Beth. While Mare Ann is a character in the world of the Xanth novels by Piers Anthony who has the magic talent of Summoning horses, Beth a veterinary student in the class of 2006. That's right, soon you can call me Dr. Beth!
If you want to see another webpage of mine, then check out the project that I did for my Reproduction class in undergrad. It's a whole tutorial webpage on artificial insemination. Yay! The best part is the little animated gif at the beginning which was a result of many jokes between myself and my computer geek friends when I was writing the page.

To the left you can see me at the Christmas of 1986 with Baby Cuddles and her Buggy fresh out of the box. I got into pony collecting just at the end of my senior year in high school. I had been thinking about ponies and wanting them for a long time, but it was the discovery of eBay and the subsequent discoveries of traders on the Internet the spurred my longing into true collecting. The heat of the collector's fever burned strongly at first through that spring and summer, but then college started, and while it is possible to collect while away, it definitely cramped my style. As time passed, the frenzy died and pony collecting became a breaks-only event, which was also good for my pocketbook. It also died down because in college I became introduced with another activity to pass my time - anime! This was a much more social and less space consuming way to spend my free time up at school and I was quickly sucked in and turned Otaku by the excellent anime club that Cornell has.
In addition to liking ponies and Anime, I greatly enjoy reading, especially science fiction and fantasy, which leads to my next great love. I just adore the Harry Potter books. They make me very happy, they're awesome to read and just as much fun to debate when one has a group of friends just as into them. Man do we have the plots of those books chewed over and searched for minute details to indicate what's coming. My roommate and I were equally obsessed my senior year and at Thanksgiving she got it into her little brain that we should have a Harry Potter Party the following semester. So we did. We all came in costume as someone from the books and she and I decorated the apartment in the mind of the books and made food and drink from the books too. It was great! Pictures and commentary can be found to the left.

The HP Party brings me to the next hobby of mine, which is sewing. I sewed my own costume for the HP Party, which was no insignificant undertaking. I can tell you that satin in one slippery little sucker to sew. Since the HP party, I have made many more costumes of increasing technical difficulty and completed many other sewing projects, most of which can be seen by the link to the left. Sewing is now one of my major hobbies
(To the right: Sad-bunny-Beth about to self-defenestrate in fear of the locals.)
My last big hobby is drawing. I enjoy drawing and sometimes I'm quite good at it. Sometimes I really suck. It depends on how inspired I am that day and how good my hand/brain connection seems to be working. I took a drawing class the spring of my senior year and definitely improved my artwork. I have included a gallery of my non-pony artwork here to peruse. My computer coloring and shading has gotten better with time, and is getting even better faster with the acquisition of new hardware.
