This costume was made for the Harry Potter Costume Party that my roomie and I threw senior year. Pictures from the party can be seen on that particuarl page, this is dedicated to the costume itself. The pictures to the right were taken a year later just to model it. Good thing I did it then, cause the costume is too big now to model effectively.
This was my first costume where I tried to finish all seams and make it like a real piece of clothing. The skirt had all seams finished with zigzag while the bodice was lined. The biggest drawback of the costume was that the lace I used was cheap and scratchy, and I didn't make a mock-up prior so the bodice is actually too short for my waist, but oh well.
The costume was designed based on one line in HP book 3 which describes Madame Rosmerta as a "curvy sort of woman" and later describes her wearing sparkling turquoise shoes. I took that and ran with it, including the kind of "bar wench" image I had of her in my mind.
I got a fair amount of milage from this costume, as I wore it for the HP party and then Halloween 2004. I managed to wear it through the day as well as to meet trick or treaters, so that was fun. Plus, I think I wore it on another occasion, but I'm blanking... anyway, good fun costume.
