Elizabethan Corset - Tudor/Elizabethan Period - In Progerss

Oy. I started this in the Spring of 2003, then worked on it again in the Fall of 2003 and then haven't worked on it since. It's there, lingering, calling to me ... and I'm actually getting a bit revved up to work on it again, so perhaps I'll actually finish it this Spring... 3 years later... maybe

It's a period corset, the purpose of which is not to squish the waist really, but the give flat lines to the torso. At most your waist size should decrease only 2 inches when wearing an Elizabethan corset, however, you will get a cone shaped torso. The picture here is only of the mock-up. I have purchased some gorgeous silk (white) which will be the outer covering of the corset. I plan to do more blackwork embroidery down the center which will be nerve wracking, since I'll be scared of screwing up my 20 dollar a yard silk (but it's oh-so-soft...). Hopefully all will go well.
